Interested In Joining One Of Our Bands?
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our Jazz and/or Concert Band!
The Clearwater Community Jazz and Concert Band are open to musicians who meet the qualifications listed below.
Minimum Qualifications Include
- Possession of a working musical instrument (CCB will provide percussion equipment)
- Ability to tune the instrument to concert pitch
- Ability to create and control notes through the natural range of the instrument
- Ability to read and perform music at a high school level grade 3 or better
From time to time, it may be necessary to limit the addition of new members
because of logistical considerations, e.g., size of stage, size of rehearsal room, fire
occupancy limitations, etc.
Members of the band who can no longer meet these qualifications may be
requested to cease participation by the section leader and the music director.
The CCB Objectives Include
- Performing for the enrichment and enjoyment of a diverse public audience
- Playing challenging and rewarding music well that supports the growth of the musical organization as well as the individual players
- Having fun, but not at anyone’s expense
Expectations
The Clearwater Community Bands provide shared musical experiences with shared outcomes. Participants therefore have certain responsibilities to each other as well as the organization.
- Players will be respectful in all interactions with colleagues and staff
- Players will attend a majority of performances and rehearsals
- Players will notify section leaders as soon as they know of a planned absence
- Players who will miss a performance should not attend the last two rehearsals before the performance to allow directors, section leaders, and substitutes the best opportunity to learn parts, evaluate musical coverage, balance, etc.
- Any substitutes must be informed that participation is voluntary and without pay
- Personal practice time will be necessary for our organization to maintain the highest standard. Each musician should make time throughout the week to practice and prepare the music prior to rehearsals and concerts
- If a member of the band who is deemed to be disruptive or can no longer meet these expectations, they may be requested to cease participation by the section leader and the music director.
NOTE: This season we will be moving to a new venue for both our rehearsals and performances. For this reason, we are limiting the number of additional musicians we add to both our organization until we have a better idea of the size of our performance stage.
Currently our sections for both the Jazz and the Concert Band are full with the exception of Euphonium. We encourage you to complete the form below. There are times when subs are needed or when a musician within a section can no longer participate (moving, time constraints, etc.).
All forms submitted will be reviewed and kept on file. When we need a sub and/or have an opening we will contact you.
